Why you shouldn’t get your hair done for Christmas

I know what you’re thinking, why is a salon owner complaining about how busy it is in the lead up to Christmas? Doesn’t it mean raining money for you?

Well yes for those 2 weeks prior that is the case, but the 2 weeks prior to THAT it can be ghost town because for reason’s we’ll never understand, hair appointments get ‘pushed out’ this time of year.

And look we’re not complaining, merely having a laugh because let’s unpack this……

Who do you see on Christmas???

Your family. Right?

And I don’t know about you, but my mum and dad are the two people on this earth I can sit down and enjoy a meal with… and not give so much as a fleeting thought towards the fact that I’m 5 weeks into a 6 week root retouch cycle.

And grandma doesn’t notice my split ends, if she does, it doesn’t impose on the pleasure she takes in her Christmas turkey.

But it’s not just hair appointments is it?

Those home Reno’s MUST be done in time.
The garden weeded for the first time this year.
House spring cleaned.
Nails done.
Botox re injected………..

Never mind the countless dinners’ you’ve hosted for your family throughout the year, where no one noticed your sagging forehead (or if they did, they didn’t care).

Like if you REALLY think about it, we all go a bit bananas for just that one day.

But maybe it’s not about Christmas. Maybe it’s about the New Year and that we can get on board with.

For reasons we will also never understand the new year brings with it another flurry of personal development.

Fitness regimes kick off, savings start, holidays are booked and goals are set. Imagine if we had a second burst of that motivation some time around July? Never underestimate the power of new year adrenaline.

So maybe it’s nice to kick off a new year feeling good…. THAT we get.

Regardless, Christmas can be a stressful time and so we wanted to make light of the silliness that comes with the silly season…….
