We hear all to often negative comments about weft hair extensions, and this blog is here to stick a needle through that BS and hit you with the real facts!
Now we haven’t always done weaves, we started installing them in salon about 18 months ago, and like many of you, I had or have ‘heard’ of someone who’s had a TERRIBLE experience with hair loss and damage do you to weft hair extensions… I bet you’re thinking at this point this b!t<h was gonna tell us how great they are?! Well don’t stress I’m getting there!!
After a poor experience I was scarred!! I’d had a great experience with tapes, but gosh if you’ve ever had them the STICKINESS! Makes me sweat thinking about the hot mess that came with moving up the tapes…
It did take a lot of convincing me to trust that a weave wouldn’t ruin my hair, and fast forward 12 months….. I’m still loving mine!
My hair has grown, I lose NO hair in move ups, and I get instant length and thickness.. ummm what more could you want?!
Reasons you may FEEL HATE for weft hair extensions
Incorrect installation, poorly trained lazy stylist are the reason for you hating weaves. If they’re installed correctly you will have NO ISSUES.
Not enough hair installed, no one wants to look like Joe Dirt. As much as it may hurt the hip pocket $$ if you don’t have enough hair installed you will be leaving rocking a stunning MULLET, so trust our stylists and if they advise for more hair we’re doing it so your extensions stay a secret and not the talk of the town for the wrong reasons.
Poor home maintenance and care. We recommended products to help you love your new hair! These rules need to be followed to make sure that your hair is everything you wished for.
The list can go on but our main goal is to make sure you follow our care instructions and do all the necessary steps to love your new weave.
Are they more work?!
To be put simply… you’re gaining in a full head 120g of hair INSTANTLY, so YES it is more upkeep and maintenance than your hair… BUT it’s easy.
Things you must do..
Blow dry when washing or they’ve become wet.
Use a detangling extension safe brush
Use professional only products! These products can only be moisture based. Any protein based products will ruin and make them knotty.
Use silk scrunchies at night and when tying up.
